Transparent preparation

The focus in preparations will be on openness and active participation of both students and personnel in the planning process. The new university was referred to as "Innovaatioyliopisto" (Innovation University) until it was given a new name.

The steering group of the innovation university project will draft the university's foundation charter and obtain appropriate funding. The preparation committee will make proposals for the implementation of the project in line with the recommendations of the committee drafting the amendments to the Universities Act and the committees looking into the structural development of other higher education institutions. Joint preparation groups of the constituent universities will outline teaching and research policy and structures for the innovation university.

Over 8,000 comments posted in on online survey

In addition to students and personnel of the three universities concerned, many other stakeholders contributed to the web discussion about the opportunities created by the new university. The total number of comments exceeded 8,000. Important stakeholders, from researchers to business, were also enlisted to contribute to the preparation of the strategy.
